The return of menstruation

Do not be alarmed, it is possible that the first menstruation is longer lasting and more abundant than normal.

If you are breastfeeding exclusively and for a long time, you should not be menstruating during this period.

Taking into account the intensity of breastfeeding, the return of the first menstruation will occur over 6 to 8 weeks after weaning is completed.

There are still between 7 and 20% of women experiencing menses early, even breastfeeding exclusively.

If you practice mixed feeding (formula and breastfeeding) or if you have breastfed for a short period, your period will not come back between the 6th and 12th week after delivery.

This does not mean that you must stop breastfeeding when you return to your rules! However, you may notice a slight decrease in milk production during the days before your period.
